Sometimes athletes just don’t know when to quit. Not in the physical sense in that they literally don’t know how to quit, but in the sense that some of them never learn their lesson.
Like Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Following Newton’s 2015 MVP season, the QB sat down for his post-Super Bowl press conference, like nearly all 49 losing quarterbacks did before him.
Newton, clearly upset with losing the game, cut the presser short when he abruptly got up and walked out.
He took heat over it for long after the party in Santa Clara shut down.

Newton’s back in the headlines for a press conference, but instead of it being for not saying enough, it was for saying too much.
Out of 32 starting NFL quarterbacks, Cam Newton’s total QBR is 25th. That “female” knows routes better than he does. pic.twitter.com/f6NCEqwl1d

In the above-tweeted clip of the exchange, the Panthers beat reporter for the Charlotte Observer, Jourdan Rodrigue, simply asked Newton:
“I know you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well. Devin Funchess has seemed to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him kind of truck sticking people out there?”
Newton responded by laughing and saying, “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes. It’s funny.”
Almost immediately, social media exploded.
