Carmelo Anthony wasn’t traded to the team we’ve been hearing about for a month. He wasn’t even traded to the other team he was willing to waive his no-trade clause for.

But Melo has finally escaped New York.

All signs pointed to Anthony being traded to Houston; that is the first of the two teams his no-trade clause would be waived for.

The second was Cleveland.

But somehow, Sam Presti and the Thunder pulled off their second shocking blockbuster trade of the summer.

The Knicks and Rockets were widely reported to be close to a deal that would send Anthony out of New York and into Houston, where he would play alongside one of his closest friends, Chris Paul.

Late last week, the deal was reportedly close – as in by Monday, Anthony would be a member of the Rockets.

Instead, the 10-time All-Star will now play alongside the reigning MVP Russell Westbrook and Paul George, who was acquired by OKC hours before free agency opened on July 1,

Now, they add another piece to their frontcourt to complement Westbrook.
