There have sure been a lot of developments in the LaVar Lonzo Ball sneaker drama lately, but none coming like the one that broke Thursday afternoon.

Let’s start with a brief synopsis of what led to Big Baller Brand breaking the Internet on May 4, 2017, shall we?

If you haven’t been following the LaVar Ball sneaker drama or have no idea who we’re talking about, here’s some background info:

LaVar Ball is Lonzo Ball’s father. Lonzo is a surefire lottery pick in June’s NBA draft, with many prognosticators saying the former UCLA standout is battling Washington’s Markelle Fultz and Kansas’ Josh Jackson as the No. 1 overall selection.

On April 30th, ESPN’s Darren Rovell wrote a story saying that the elder Ball said that Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas had all turned down the chance to be Lonzo’s shoe sponsor. To be fair, the goal was never to be a sponsor, rather a partner.

LaVar Ball wanted a deal to include the licensing of Big Baller Brand, the family’s apparel company in which you can purchase a t-shirt with their logo on it for $50.

Per Rovell, the elder Ball said: “We’ve said from the beginning, we aren’t looking for an endorsement deal. We’re looking for co-branding, a true partner. But they’re not ready for that because they’re not used to that model. But hey, the taxi industry wasn’t ready for Uber, either.”

And the asking price is…well…it’s pretty insane.
