There may be a lot of people in the basketball community that aren’t big fans of LaVar Ball, but one entertainment mogul isn’t one of them.
Shawn Carter – aka Jay Z – is not just one of the most powerful men in music, he’s quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in sports as well.

Carter has owned a chain of upscale sports bars, the 40/40 Club, since 2003 and was a minority owner of the Nets and is said to be one of the influencers to move the team from New Jersey to his hometown of Brooklyn.
He had to sell his shares in the team, however, after launching Roc Nation Sports, the sports management division of Roc Nation, in 2013.

Two years after Roc Nation Sports launched, Jay Z gave Roc Nation a clothing line and has dabbled a little in sneakers, although… 1. He’s never had an exclusive deal, wearing both Nike and Adidas in his career and 2. When his name has been associated with a shoe, it’s been nearly impossible for the regular consumer to get their hands on it.
Carter has always done what he wants in any industry he wants to, regardless of what anyone else had to say about it.
We push the culture forward. Don't let the culture push us.

So, maybe his support of Big Baller Brand makes a lot more sense after all.
