One of the happiest guys in the NBA just got a whole lot happier.
Joel Embiid is one of the most popular players in the league because of his larger-than-life personality and natural skills but his popularity has hit an all-time high in the City of Brotherly Love.
Embiid was drafted third overall by the Sixers in 2014 but has struggled to stay on the court due to several injuries which have limited his star power on the court – to a degree.
Even playing in just 31 games last season, the center’s presence was so impactful he was named a finalist for the Rookie of the Year Award.
Philly knows he’s a natural star and has rewarded him greatly.
First, the team chose Embiid to represent them at the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery and after his hilarious reactions to basically everything that happened that night. he had much more than just Sixers fans trusting the process.
Philadelphia center Joel Embiid has agreed to a five-year, $148 million designated rookie scale max extension, league sources told ESPN.

The Sixers themselves are really trusting the process and signed Embiid to a five-year supermax deal worth $148 million.
