It seems like a lifetime ago, but it wasn’t even a month.
On May 4th, LaVar Ball, father to lottery draft pick Lonzo, almost broke the Internet when his company, Big Baller Brand released the first view of their signature shoe, the ZO2.
Along with the first look at the shoe was a first look at the price: $495.

There was, of course, all of the things LaVar said about Lonzo’s UCLA teammates, why he wanted one of the big three companies – Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour – to “partner” with BBB for $1 billion, the silly comments about Michael Jordan (we’ll get back to that in a moment), the announcement that he didn’t need Kobe Bryant’s advice (to this day, there’s still no reports of Kobe actually offering it), and the awkward and bizarre run-in with Kristine Leahy on The Herd, which began by the reporter asking Ball how many of the ZO2’s BBB had sold.
Price of Jordan I in 1985: $64.99. Adjusted for inflation: $147 today. LaVar Ball set the price for the ZO2 336% higher than MJ's 1st shoe pic.twitter.com/ZISdVcmwKl

So, the Lakers draw the second drafting slot at June’s Draft, and this excited the Ball family, because this is the only place they want Lonzo to play his professional career.
LaVar Ball is something else man 😂

Great. We wish him the best of luck.
But let’s get back to this MJ thing, shall we?
