Mark your calendars, Dodgeball fans, because ESPN has a treat in store for you!
Actually, if you’re a fan of ultimate trampoline dodgeball, plus disc golf, roller derby, Kabaddi, darts, or cornhole (or bags, depending on where in the country you live) you’re going to want to listen up:
After 13 long years, the Worldwide Leader in Sports is bringing you ESPN 8: “The Ocho.”
At least for one day.
However, if you really enjoy college football and watching studio analysts talk about college football or even old college football games, you may not be so thrilled about ESPN announcing they are transforming ESPNU to ESPN8 on August 8th.
Per ESPN’s official press release:
Drawing inspiration from the 2004 hit movie “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” featuring Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor, and Ben Stiller, ESPNU will become ESPN8: “The Ocho” on Tuesday, Aug. 8, or more appropriately, 8/8. For one day only, the faux network will feature a line-up of unconventional sporting events ranging from Disc Golf to Ultimate Trampoline Dodgeball and Firefighters World Challenge playing off the mantra highlighted in the movie: “Bringing you the Finest in Seldom Seen Sports”.
So what exactly are they going to air on ESPN*: “The Ocho” that falls into the category of “the finest in seldom seen sports?”
