Bay in May, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis sat down on the set of KG’s show Area 21 to give their perspective on the situation surrounding the ongoing drama that they have with former teammate Ray Allen.
KG, Allen, And Pierce In Better Times
For those who need a refresher, the group of former C’s who won the title in ’08, are still a bit salty about the way that Allen left Boston and joined the Heat.
At the time, 2012, Boston had been battling with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh for Eastern Conference supremacy when Allen declined the Celtics’ contract offer and headed to Miami instead.
Basketball Is A Game But The NBA Is A Business
Allen was losing time to Avery Bradley and was constantly the subject of trade rumors. In Miami, his role would also be diminished, but Allen clearly felt the atmosphere was much more positive and he had the chance to add another title to his Hall of Fame resume before retiring.
Allen ultimately did win his second championship with the Heat after beating the Spurs with one of the greatest shots in NBA Finals history:
The beef his former teammates had with him seemed petty, but everyone is entitled to feel the way they do about certain circumstances.
