Beef in professional sports happens. Consider this: you have players and teams that become rivals with entire cities. It affects how you view a certain player or city.

For instance: ask someone in Philadelphia about Pittsburgh-anything and that person will go on and on about Mario Lemieux or the entire Steelers organization.

Sports has a tendency to transform fans into ultra-competitors, just like the athletes that play for the teams they love.

No Love Lost When It Comes To Rivals

But what about when players have beef with other players for seemingly no reason at all?

One Golden State writer is claiming that the entirety of the NBA’s superstars can’t stand one of their own – Steph Curry.

Curry’s Jersey Is The Best Seller For The Second Year In A Row

According to Marcus Thompson, author of Golden: The Miraculous Rise of Steph Curry, Curry is not as popular among the league’s biggest stars, including LeBron James, as he is with fans.

In a recent appearance on The Big Lead with Jason McIntyre podcast,  Thompson said because of Curry’s sudden rise in his on-court output along with his meteoric popularity, “particularly amongst fans and the media,” had turned a few of his league-mates against him.

“There’s this thing there with he and LeBron that’s a little weird,” Thompson said on the podcast.

James And Curry Are…Frenemies?

According to Thompson, James was “like a mentor” to Curry, but as Curry’s game improved as did the Warriors’ record, he “challenged LeBron’s status.” The two aren’t close anymore, according to Thompson, and it bothers the reigning MVP.
